What changed
OpenAI’s 8 September release notes announce ChatGPT Images 2.5, with improvements to detail, editing precision and generation speed. The update also introduces templates, mobile sketch input and prompt sharing. Templates are not yet available in Work mode.
Why it matters
The practical shift is from producing an interesting first image to iterating towards a usable asset. A designer may need to preserve the composition while adjusting a material, or change a background without changing the subject.
Our view: judge an image tool by a repeatable brief. Ask for one controlled change, then compare the result with the original. A striking first output is only part of the job.
